John P. Ficarelli, D.M.D.
Dr. Ficarelli received his D.M.D. and pediatric specialty training at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and Boston Floating Hospital of Tufts-New England Medical Center. Dr. Ficarelli is a board certified pediatric dentist and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
He is Director of Dentistry at the Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children in Canton, and on staff at both Tufts Medical Center and the Franciscan Hospital for Children. Dr. Ficarelli also practices pediatric dentistry at Boylston Street Dental Group in Chestnut Hill.
He has the honor of serving as a member of the Board of Advisors of Tufts Dental School and on the Board of Directors of the Forsyth Institute. In 2010 he was inducted as a fellow of the American College of Dentists and is also a Fellow of the Academy of Dental Science and the International College of Dentists. Dr. Ficarelli was recently awarded the Distinguished Service Award of the Tufts University Alumni Association. A frequent lecturer on topics related to pediatric dentistry, he is a volunteer faculty member of Tufts University School of Dental Medecine.
He is a founding board member of Project Stretch: Dentistry Reaching Out to Children, an international dental volunteer organization. Dr. Ficarelli sings bass with the Highland Men’s Glee Club, founded in 1908.
Scott F. Petrie, D.M.D.
Dr. Petrie received his B.A. in Biology from Boston University and his D.M.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. He completed training in pediatric dentistry at Children’s Hospital of Boston and Harvard School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Petrie is board certified and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He is a member of the Massachusetts Dental Society, the American Dental Association, and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and a past President of the Massachusetts Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He has been a Pediatric Dental Consultant at Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children for 27 years and also maintains a staff position at Franciscan Children's Hospital in Brighton, MA.
Dr. Petrie and his wife, Joanne, live in Marion, MA. They have three children, Carolyn, Bob and MaryGrace, and two great dogs named Gus and Millie!
Andrew Danberg-Ficarelli, D.M.D.
Dr. Danberg-Ficarelli is originally from Newton Centre, MA and now lives in Boston, where he earned his D.M.D from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. During dental school he was chosen for a national leadership position in the American Student Dental Association. Dr. Danberg-Ficarelli continued at Tufts to complete his specialty residency in pediatric dentistry, and was appointed chief resident by the Department of Pediatric Dentistry. He was board certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry in 2014.
Dr. Danberg-Ficarelli earned his B.A. in economics and political science from Columbia College of Columbia University. Fluent in Spanish, he has lived and worked in Latin America, and is an active participant in Project Stretch: Dentistry Reaching Out to Children. He is an impassioned oarsman and hiker, and has competed in several organized endurance challenges. He also sings with the local Highland Glee Club.
James F. Kane, D.M.D., M.S.
Dr. James (Jess) Kane graduated from the University of Massachusetts and Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, where he received his Master of Science degree in Anatomy, and Certifications in both Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry. He is active in the Massachusetts Dental Society and past president of the Massachusetts Association of Orthodontists. He is a Fellow in both the American and International College of Dentists. A past president of both the Tufts Dental Alumni association and the University of Massachusetts Alumni Association, he currently serves as president of the Cape Cod UMass Alumni network and as vice chairman on the Dental Board of Advisors at Tufts Dental School. He received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Tufts University in 2002 and from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2007. Presently, he is an Assistant Clinical Professor at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, Department of Orthodontics. In 2011, Tufts Dental School awarded Dr. Kane the Dean’s Gold Medal, that school’s highest honor.
In addition to private practice in Natick and Walpole, Dr. Kane's philanthropic activities include serving as a founding member of the UMass Amherst Foundation Board, former chairman of the Tufts Dental M Club, and chairman of the capital campaign for Tufts Dental School (which funded a $50 million expansion of the dental school building). Dr. Kane is also the alumni chairman for the UMass Rising Campaign, which has raised over $350 million for the Amherst campus. He is a co-founder of Project Stretch: Dentistry Reaching Out to Children, a nonprofit organization serving the dental needs of underprivileged children throughout the world. In addition, he is a founding member of the UMass Club in Boston. Dr. Kane is proud to serve on the National Board of Smiles Change Lives, a non-profit organization that helps children and adolescents from low-income families receive orthodontic treatment. Smiles Change Lives recently made Dr. Kane the recipient of the Ginny Award, given to their outstanding national volunteer.
Dr. Kane lives on Cape Cod with his wife, Andrea. An avid golfer, he plays for camaraderie and to learn humility.
Peiman Mahdavi, D.M.D.
Dr. Peiman Mahdavi, who joined Dental Associates of Walpole in 1994, received his B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of California at Davis and his D.M.D. from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He completed his general practice residency at New England Medical Center and Tufts University, followed by a two year post-graduate residency in orthodontics at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He is a member of the Massachusetts Dental Society, the American Dental Association and the American Association of Orthodontists. Dr. Mahdavi served as President of the Massachusetts Association of Orthodontists from 2010 to 2012, and is a Director of the Tufts University Dental Alumni Association.
Dr. Mahdavi became an Invisalign® certified orthodontist in 2000, and is now an Elite Invisalign® Provider. Dr. Mahdavi is a proud partner of Smiles Change Lives, a national non-profit organization that helps kids from low-income families get braces.
He and his wife have two daughters who like to make sure he always has something to do! Like many parents, he spends his weekends watching soccer games or driving a carload of girls to the movies. As a family they also enjoy skiing, traveling, and hiking. When Dr. Mahdavi is considering the treatment to recommend for a patient he always asks himself what he would do if it were his wife or daughter.
James F. Kane III, D.M.D.
Dr. James (Jamie) Kane graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a B.S. in Biology. He went on to receive his DMD from Tufts School of Dental Medicine and holds a Certificate in Orthodontics. Dr. Kane serves as a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, and the Massachusetts Dental Society, and as the Director of the Massachusetts Association for Orthodontists. Additionally, he is a staff orthodontist at Massachusetts Hospital School and serves on the Board of Directors of the New England Society of Orthodontics.
Dr. Kane’s greatest personal interest outside of dentistry is technology. He has lectured at Yankee Dental Congress on integrating the modern dental office with contemporary digital equipment. In addition, he is participating in research that tests the accuracy of digital equipment used in pediatric and orthodontic practices.
Dr. Kane resides in Holliston, MA with his wife Krista and three children.
Samantha Tagerman, D.M.D.
Dr. Samantha Tagerman grew up in Newton, Massachusetts. She earned her B.S. in Cell and Molecular Biology from Tulane University in New Orleans. Dr. Tagerman then went on to receive her D.M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, where she graduated first in her class with honors in Community Oral Health and Care for the Medically Complex. She was inducted into the Mathew Cryer Society, the highest academic honor at Penn Dental Medicine.
After dental school, Dr. Tagerman completed a two-year residency in orthodontics at Tufts University. Dr. Tagerman is a member of the American Dental Association and the American Association of Orthodontists.
In her free time, she tries to spend as much time as she can outdoors, whether it be hiking, running or waterskiing. She is also an avid baker loves trying new recipes. Dr. Tagerman truly enjoys getting to know all of her patients and feels lucky to be able to help them improve their smiles.
Christopher R. Page, D.M.D.
Dr. Christopher Page graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and went on to receive his D.M.D. from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. While in dental school he completed an externship at Wrentham Development Center, working with special needs patients. Dr. Page also became a trained CEREC dentist in 2006, taking great interest in innovative restorative procedures and technology in dentistry. In addition to his work at Dental Associates of Walpole, he maintains a practice at Page Family Dental in Revere, MA.
Dr. Page serves as a member of the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society, and the North Metropolitan Dental Society. Originally from Westwood, MA, he now lives in Boston with his wife and two young children. Dr. Page loves keeping busy with his family, traveling, spending time outdoors, and chasing the family dog, Bluebell, around the park. He is also an avid snowboarder and squash player, enjoys gardening with his daughter, and listening to and recording music.
Stephanie E. D'Aprile, D.M.D.
Dr. Stephanie D'Aprile received her bachelor's degree from Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania, and her dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Dr. D'Aprile received post-doctoral training in implantology, endodontics, aesthetic dentistry and prosthodontics. In addition, she received a certificate in restorative implantology from Branemark Nobelpharma and is CEREC trained. Dr. D'Aprile is a member of the American Dental Association, Massachusetts Dental Society, the Metro-West Dental Society, and the International Team for Implantology (ITI). She is a former commissioned officer of the US Public Health Service Corps. Dr. D'Aprile enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters, volunteers at a local dog shelter, and is a member of Millis Educational Resource Initiative Team. She enjoys tennis, skiing, mountain biking, and yoga.
Lyle E. Smith, D.M.D.
Dr. Lyle Smith is a native of Stoughton and graduated from Stoughton High School in 2007. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Health Science from Boston University in 2011. Dr. Smith then went on to Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, where he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 2015 and was a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon (National Dental Honor Society). Following dental school, Dr. Smith completed a general practice residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. He has received recognition for scholastic achievement, ethics, and professionalism through merit by American College of Dentists, the Spencer N. Frankl Award, and the Twiness Society Award. Dr. Smith is a member of the American Dental Association and Massachusetts Dental Society. He also enjoys playing golf, traveling, and relaxing at the beach with his family and friends.
Joseph E. Cohen, D.D.S.
Dr. Cohen graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with high honors and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco, CA. He was awarded the department award for highest excellence in the field of endodontics upon graduation. Dr. Cohen has a passion for treating patients who traditionally have difficult access to care, including those with special needs or with high dental anxiety. He has led two dental mission trips to the Caribbean to provide free emergency dental care to rural populations across Jamaica. In his free time, Dr. Cohen enjoys playing and watching sports as well as spending time with his wife, an endodontic resident at the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.
Steven J. Saunders, D.M.D.
Dr. Steven Saunders received his B.S. degree from Boston College and his D.M.D. degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He completed a general practice residency at the Public Health Service Hospital in Staten Island, N.Y. and received his certificate in endodontics from Tufts University. Dr. Saunders is a member of the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society, the American Association of Endodontists, and the West Metropolitan Study Club of the Massachusetts Dental Society. He is board certified in endodontics and a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics. Dr. Saunders is also a part-time faculty member in the Department of Endodontics at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, and maintains a private practice limited to endodontics in Natick, MA.
Michael D. Palys, D.M.D., M.M.Sc.
Dr. Michael Palys received his B.A. from Temple University, his D.M.D. from Temple University School of Dentistry and his Masters of Medical Science (M.M.Sc.) from Harvard University School of Dental Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, and has been affiliated with the International and American Association for Dental Research and the Academy of Osseointegration.
Dr. Palys has published several scientific articles on periodontics, and has worked with numerous research teams at Harvard University School of Dental Medicine and Forsyth Dental Center. He was a Research Fellow in the Department of Periodontology at Harvard, and a clinical research investigator at the Boston Oral Health Clincal Resource Center. In addition, he was a clinical instructor at the Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene and in Forsyth Dental Center’s Periodontal Residency Program.
Dr. Palys was also a research volunteer at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s Department of Cellular and Molecular Biology. When not dazzling the patients of Dental Associates of Walpole, he works as the staff periodontist at Harvard University Health Services, which serves the entire Harvard University community.
Dr. Palys and his wife, Margaret, have three daughters, Caroline, Ella and Lidia. When he’s not treating periodontal issues, Dr. Palys serves on the Lexington Little League Softball Board, and as assistant coach for each of his children’s softball teams.
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
Justin C. Mull, D.M.D.
Dr. Justin Mull graduated from Cornell University’s department of Biological Sciences in 1995. He earned his degree in dental medicine from Tufts University in 2002 and completed residency training in oral and maxillofacial surgery at The Brooklyn Hospital Center in 2009. As chief resident, he performed cleft lip and palate surgery in Venezuela, reconstructive surgery in Ethiopia, orthognathic surgery and treatment of patients with oral pathology in Saratoga Springs and Brooklyn, NH.
Dr. Mull teaches oral surgery residents of the Boston University School of Dental Medicine and is a clinical faculty member of the Veterans Hospitals of the Greater Boston Healthcare System. At the Boston VA hospital, Dr. Mull and the residents place an average of 200 dental implants a year. Active in local and national dental societies, Dr. Mull is a member of the Massachusetts Dental Association, American Dental Association, as well as local and national associations of oral and maxillofacial surgeons.
Dr. Mull has contributed to the humanitarian efforts of the Sisters of Sacré Coeur and Doctors Without Borders. In his free time he enjoys hiking and traveling with family and friends.
Adam Bateman, D.M.D., M.D.
Dr. Bateman received his Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Biology at the University of Utah. He then completed his dental degree at Northwestern Dental School. While attending Northwestern Dental School, he graduated at the top of his class, earning multiple awards, including; alpha Omega Award, Highest Academic Standing, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Dental Student Award, Academy of Operative Dentistry Award, David C. Shapiro Scholarship Grant, Paul W. Clopper Memorial Scholarship Grant. He was also nominated into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Dental Society.
Dr. Bateman also attended the University of Texas Health Science Center, for additional training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. In his Chief Residency year, he scored 100 on his in-service exam, which was the highest score in the nation. On completion of his residency program, Dr. Bateman received his Medical Doctorate, Certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and a one year Certificate in General Surgery.
Dr. Bateman is a Fellow of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Utah Association of Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons, and the American Medical Association.
Dr. Bateman loves to spend time with his wife and 6 kids, and says the greatest accomplishment in his life is getting his wife to marry him.
