Pediatrics
Scott F. Petrie, D.M.D.
Dr. Petrie received his B.A. in Biology from Boston University and his D.M.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. He completed training in pediatric dentistry at Children’s Hospital of Boston and Harvard School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Petrie is board certified and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He is a member of the Massachusetts Dental Society, the American Dental Association, and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and a past President of the Massachusetts Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He has been a Pediatric Dental Consultant at Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children for 27 years and also maintains a staff position at Franciscan Children's Hospital in Brighton, MA. Chosen by his peers, Dr. Petrie was voted one of the best dentists in the Boston region by Boston Magazine for 2020.
Dr. Petrie and his wife, Joanne, live in Marion, MA. They have three children, Carolyn, Bob and MaryGrace, and two great dogs named Gus and Millie!
Brett Tashjian, D.M.D.
Dr. Brett Tashjian grew up in Needham, MA. He received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the Commonwealth Honors College at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Dr. Tashjian earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree, graduating magna cum laude from the Boston University School of Dental Medicine, where he focused on providing oral hygiene education to elementary school children in Boston Public Schools. He completed his specialty training in Pediatric Dentistry at NYU Langone Hospitals, continuing his community outreach by offering oral health instruction to children in schools throughout Holyoke, Massachusetts. Dr. Tashjian is a member of The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Tashjian enjoys exploring Cape Cod, spending time with his nephew, staying active, and playing the piano.
Alisa Lee, D.M.D.
Dr. Lee graduated Magna Cum Laude from Cornell University with a B.A. in Chemistry and a minor in Nutrition. She received her D.M.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine with Honors in Research and Community Oral Health. She completed training in pediatric dentistry at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard School of Dental Medicine where she was chief resident.
During dental school, Dr. Lee was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society and received the International College of Dentists Student Leadership Award. She is a faculty member at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard School of Dental Medicine, where she treats patients with special healthcare needs and mentors dental students. Dr. Lee is a member of the Massachusetts Dental Society, the American Dental Association, and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. She also volunteers her time at Give Kids a Smile, providing free dental care to children in need. Dr. Lee feels incredibly fortunate to work in pediatric dentistry, where she can connect with amazing families and children. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring New England, hiking, cooking, and painting.
Orthodontics
Peiman Mahdavi, D.M.D.
Dr. Peiman Mahdavi, who joined Dental Associates of Walpole in 1994, received his B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of California at Davis and his D.M.D. from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He completed his general practice residency at Tufts Medical Center, followed by a two year post-graduate residency in orthodontics at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He is a member of the Massachusetts Dental Society, the American Dental Association and the American Association of Orthodontists. Dr. Mahdavi served as President of the Massachusetts Association of Orthodontists from 2010 to 2012, and is a Director of the Tufts University Dental Alumni Association. He served as the President of Tufts University Dental Alumni Association from 2017 to 2018. In addition to practicing orthodontics at Dental Associates of Walpole he maintains a practice at Natick Dental Partners.
Dr. Mahdavi became an Invisalign® certified orthodontist in 2000, and is now an Elite Invisalign® Provider. Dr. Mahdavi is a proud partner of Smiles Change Lives, a national non-profit organization that helps kids from low-income families get braces.
He and his wife have two grown daughters and live in the Boston suburbs. As a family they enjoy skiing, traveling, and hiking. When Dr. Mahdavi is developing a patient's treatment plan, he always considers the approach as if it were someone in his own family.
James F. Kane III, D.M.D.
Dr. James (Jamie) Kane graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a B.S. in Biology. He went on to receive his DMD from Tufts School of Dental Medicine and holds a Certificate in Orthodontics. Dr. Kane serves as a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, and the Massachusetts Dental Society, and as the Director of the Massachusetts Association for Orthodontists. Additionally, he is a staff orthodontist at Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children and serves on the Board of Directors of the New England Society of Orthodontics.
Dr. Kane’s greatest personal interest outside of dentistry is technology. He has lectured at Yankee Dental Congress on integrating the modern dental office with contemporary digital equipment. In addition, he is participating in research that tests the accuracy of digital equipment used in pediatric and orthodontic practices.
Dr. Kane resides in Holliston, MA with his wife Krista and three children.
Katharine Marcks, D.M.D.
Dr. Katharine (Kate) Marcks completed her undergraduate education at Boston College, after which she worked in neuroscience research for the US Department of Agriculture prior to returning to school. She received her Doctorate of Dental Medicine (D.M.D) degree from the University of Connecticut. While in Pittsburgh, PA for her husband’s medical residency, she completed a General Practice Residency at Allegheny General Hospital, providing dentistry for patients with complex medical needs. She returned to Boston to complete a three-year orthodontics residency at Boston University, where she received her Master’s Degree. Dr. Marcks is a member of the American Association of Orthodontist, the American Dental Association, and the Massachusetts Dental Society.
Dr. Marcks lives on the South Shore with her husband and daughter. In her free time, she enjoys distance running and has completed 23 half marathons and 3 full marathons (and counting!). She also loves spending time in her kitchen experimenting with new recipes.
Adult Dentistry
Christopher R. Page, D.M.D.
Dr. Christopher Page graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and went on to receive his D.M.D. from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. While in dental school he completed an externship at Wrentham Development Center, working with special needs patients. Dr. Page also became a trained CEREC dentist in 2006, taking great interest in innovative restorative procedures and technology in dentistry. In addition to his work at Dental Associates of Walpole, he maintains a practice at Page Family Dental in Revere, MA.
Dr. Page serves as a member of the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society, and the North Metropolitan Dental Society. Originally from Westwood, MA, he now lives in Boston with his wife and two young children. Dr. Page loves keeping busy with his family, traveling, spending time outdoors, and chasing the family dog, Bluebell, around the park. He is also an avid snowboarder and squash player, enjoys gardening with his daughter, and listening to and recording music.
Stephanie E. D'Aprile, D.M.D.
Dr. Stephanie D'Aprile received her bachelor's degree from Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania, and her dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Dr. D'Aprile received post-doctoral training in implantology, endodontics, aesthetic dentistry and prosthodontics. In addition, she received a certificate in restorative implantology from Branemark Nobelpharma and is CEREC trained. She completed the Tufts Dental Sleep Medicine residency with board examination. Dr. D'Aprile is on staff at Franciscan Hospital for Children where she treats adult patients with special needs. Dr. D'Aprile is a member of the American Dental Association, Massachusetts Dental Society, the Metro-West Dental Society, the International Team for Implantology (ITI), and is a diplomate of the Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. She is a former commissioned officer of the US Public Health Service Corps. Dr. D'Aprile enjoys spending time with her two adult daughters. She enjoys cooking, tennis, Crossfit, boxing/striking, skiing, mountain biking, and yoga.
Lyle E. Smith, D.M.D.
Dr. Lyle Smith is a native of Stoughton and graduated from Stoughton High School in 2007. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Health Science from Boston University in 2011. Dr. Smith then went on to Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, where he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 2015 and was a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon (National Dental Honor Society). Following dental school, Dr. Smith completed a general practice residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. He has received recognition for scholastic achievement, ethics, and professionalism through merit by American College of Dentists, the Spencer N. Frankl Award, and the Twiness Society Award. Dr. Smith is a member of the American Dental Association and Massachusetts Dental Society. He also enjoys playing golf, traveling, and relaxing at the beach with his family and friends.
Bradley Adams, D.M.D.
Dr. Adams grew up locally in Westwood, MA. He received his B.S. degree in Psychology from the University of New Hampshire in Durham, NH in 2015, and attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine to achieve his D.M.D. in 2020. While at Tufts Dr. Adams participated in “Global Dental Brigades”, organizations of students providing access to dentistry abroad in underdeveloped areas. He worked alongside dentists, staff, and local leaders in Panama.
As a member of the American Dental Society and Massachusetts Dental Society, Dr. Adams is looking forward to working to improve access to care in this area.
He has always been an avid fan of Boston based sports teams and spends his free time playing hockey and golf.
Steven DiReda, D.M.D.
Dr. DiReda grew up in Shrewsbury, MA. He received his bachelor’s degree at the University of New Hampshire in 2016. There he participated in the “Dental Brigades” mission to Panama where he helped local residents access dental care in an underserved area. Like his grandfather, uncles, and cousin, Dr. DiReda obtained his D.M.D. at Tufts University in 2020 and received the Excellence in Restorative Dentistry Award. Dr. DiReda completed a General Practice residency at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, Vermont treating both suburban and rural communities.
Outside of Dental practice, Dr. DiReda likes to spend time on the lake fishing and wake surfing. During the winter months, he snowboards and skis in Vermont and New Hampshire.
Monita Wong, D.M.D.
Dr. Monita Wong earned her bachelor’s degree from Tufts University and then went on to receive her doctorate from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 2018. After dental school, Dr. Wong went to Winslow, Arizona to complete her Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency serving the Navajo Indian Reservation. Originally from California, Dr. Wong is a first-generation dentist who has found her passion educating patients and dental students about oral health and dentistry. She has previously volunteered as clinical faculty for UCSF School of Dentistry and Howard University College of Dentistry. In her free time, Dr. Wong likes to bake, hike, read, and explore new restaurants.
Endodontics
Steven J. Saunders, D.M.D.
Dr. Steven Saunders received his B.S. degree from Boston College and his D.M.D. degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He completed a general practice residency at the Public Health Service Hospital in Staten Island, N.Y. and received his certificate in endodontics from Tufts University. Dr. Saunders is a member of the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society, the American Association of Endodontists, and the West Metropolitan Study Club of the Massachusetts Dental Society. He is board certified in endodontics and a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics. Dr. Saunders is also a part-time faculty member in the Department of Endodontics at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, and maintains a private practice limited to endodontics in Natick, MA.
Periodontics
Michael D. Palys, D.M.D., M.M.Sc.
Dr. Michael Palys received his B.A. from Temple University, his D.M.D. from Temple University School of Dentistry and his Masters of Medical Science (M.M.Sc.) from Harvard University School of Dental Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, and has been affiliated with the International and American Association for Dental Research and the Academy of Osseointegration.
Dr. Palys has published several scientific articles on periodontics, and has worked with numerous research teams at Harvard University School of Dental Medicine and Forsyth Dental Center. He was a Research Fellow in the Department of Periodontology at Harvard, and a clinical research investigator at the Boston Oral Health Clinical Resource Center. In addition, he was a clinical instructor at the Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene and in Forsyth Dental Center’s Periodontal Residency Program.
Dr. Palys was also a research volunteer at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s Department of Cellular and Molecular Biology. When not dazzling the patients of Dental Associates of Walpole, he works as a periodontist at Harvard Dental Center Cambridge, which serves the entire Harvard University community. He is also a predoctoral faculty instructor at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Palys and his wife, Margaret, have three daughters, Caroline, Ella and Lidia. When he’s not treating periodontal issues, Dr. Palys enjoys watching his children participate in competitive softball or an occasional musical performance.
Daniel I Sabra , D.M.D., M.S.
Dr. Sabra is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, the highest level of distinction for specialists of periodontal and dental implant surgery. He is currently on the executive committee for the Boston District Dental Society. Dr. Sabra was born and raised in Hollywood, Florida. He received his undergraduate education at the University of Pennsylvania where he decided to pursue a career in dentistry. Dr. Sabra completed dental school at the University of Florida College of Dentistry. While at the University of Florida, he was vice president of his dental school class and was involved in many community service organizations. In addition, he attended several periodontal externships across the country. At the graduation ceremony, he was chosen by the faculty at the University of Florida as the recipient of the Quintessence Award for Clinical Achievement in Periodontics.
Dr. Sabra obtained his residency training and received his certificate in Periodontics and Dental Implants from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. While in Texas, he completed his master’s degree in biomedical sciences for his research on soft tissue healing after implant surgery in patients with diabetes.
In September 2017, at the annual conference of the American Academy of Periodontology, Dr. Sabra was selected as the recipient of the Dr. and Mrs. Gerald M. Kramer Scholar Award for Excellence, given to the nation’s top overall graduating resident.
Dr. Sabra is a member of the American Board of Periodontology, American Academy of Periodontology, American Dental Association, and the Massachusetts Dental Society.
Dr. Sabra currently lives in Boston. He frequently lectures on periodontics, dental implants, and mucogingival surgery. When he is not working, he enjoys traveling, playing guitar, attending concerts, staying active, and attending any and all sporting events.
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
Adam Bateman, D.M.D., M.D.
Dr. Bateman received his Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Biology at the University of Utah. He then completed his dental degree at Northwestern Dental School. While attending Northwestern Dental School, he graduated at the top of his class, earning multiple awards, including; Alpha Omega Award, Highest Academic Standing, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Dental Student Award, Academy of Operative Dentistry Award, David C. Shapiro Scholarship Grant, Paul W. Clopper Memorial Scholarship Grant. He was also nominated into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Dental Society.
Dr. Bateman also attended the University of Texas Health Science Center, for additional training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. In his Chief Residency year, he scored 100 on his in-service exam, which was the highest score in the nation. On completion of his residency program, Dr. Bateman received his Medical Doctorate, Certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and a one year Certificate in General Surgery.
Dr. Bateman is a Fellow of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Utah Association of Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons, and the American Medical Association.
Dr. Bateman loves to spend time with his wife and 6 kids, and says the greatest accomplishment in his life is getting his wife to marry him.
