Pediatric Dental Care
John P. Ficarelli, D.M.D.
Dr. John Ficarelli received his dental and pediatric specialty training at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and Boston Floating Hospital. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society, the American Cleft Palate Association, the Academy of Dentistry for Persons with Disabilities and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He is a past president of the Massachusetts Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Ficarelli has lectured extensively on pediatric dentistry and management of cleft lip and palate patients. He currently serves as director of dentistry at the Massachusetts Hospital School and is on staff at Tufts-New England Medical Center, and the Franciscan Children's Hospital. Dr. Ficarelli also practices pediatric dentistry at Pediatric Dental Associates of Brookline P.C.
Scott F. Petrie, D.M.D.
Dr. Scott Petrie received his B.A. Degree from Boston University and his D.M.D. Degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. He completed training in pediatric dentistry at Children's Hospital of Boston and Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Petrie is a member of the Massachusetts Dental Society, the American Dental Association and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He is a past president of the Massachusetts Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Petrie maintains staff positions at Children's Hospital, Massachusetts Hospital School and Franciscan Children's Hospital.
Christopher V. Hughes, D.M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Christopher Hughes received his B.A. degree from Colby College, his D.M.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, his certificate in pediatric dentistry from Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital, Case Western Reserve University, and his Ph.D. in microbiology from Georgetown University. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the Massachusetts Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Hughes has lectured extensively and has authored numerous scientific publications, including chapters in three textbooks. He was the recipient of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry's Educational Foundation Research Award and serves on the Executive board of the Massachusetts Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Hughes is currently an associate professor and chairman of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine and Boston University Medical Center. At the School of Dental Medicine he lectures on numerous subjects and oversees students in various clinical settings. He is also on staff at Boston Medical Center and Franciscan Children's Hospital.
Dr. Hughes currently lives in Medfield with his wife and two children.

Russell G. Page, D.M.D.
Dr. Russell Page received his bachelor's degree from Rutgers University and his doctorate in dentistry from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. He received post-doctoral training in implantology, prosthodontics and endodontics from Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry. Dr. Page is currently a member of the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society and the North Metropolitan Dental Society. He is a former president of the North Metropolitan Dental Society. Dr. Page also practices all phases of dentistry at Page Family Dental in Revere, MA.
Stephanie E. D'Aprile, D.M.D.
Dr. Stephanie D'Aprile received her bachelor's degree from Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania, and her dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Dr. D'Aprile received post-doctoral training in implantology, endodontics, aesthetic dentistry and prosthodontics. In addition, she received a certificate in restorative implantology from Branemark Nobelpharma. Dr. D'Aprile is a member of the American Dental Association, Massachusetts Dental Society and the Metro-West Dental Society. She is a former commissioned officer of the US Public Health Service Commissioned Corps.
Christopher R. Page, D.M.D.
Dr. Christopher Page graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and then received his Doctorate of Medical Dentistry from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston. He served an externship at Wrentham Development Center, working with special needs patients. He is currently a member of the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society and the North Metropolitan Dental Society. In addition, Dr. Page is also a trained CEREC dentist. Dr. Page, originally from Westwood, currently lives in Boston, snowboards avidly and plays with several local bands. Dr. Page also practices all phases of dentistry at Page Family Dental in Revere, MA.
Luciana Petto-Messina, D.D.S.
Dr. Luciana Messina received her D.D.S. degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Subsequently, she completed post-doctoral courses in aesthetic dentistry, periodontics, and endodontics. Dr. Messina is currently a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Massachusetts Dental Society, and the Worcester District Dental Society. She has practiced all aspects of general dentistry for many years and is fluent in both English and Portuguese. Dr. Messina moved to Massachusetts in 2002, where she resides with her husband.
Adam Manfredo, D.D.S.
Dr. Adam Manfredo graduated with honors from the University of California, Davis and earned his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from UCLA. Before private practice he completed an advanced dentistry training program at the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, CA. Dr. Manfredo is committed to excellence in all areas of restorative and cosmetic dentistry and is a certified CEREC ®, one-visit crown, dentist. Dr. Manfredo holds membership with the American Dental Association and the Massachusetts Dental Society. In his free time Adam is an avid runner, skier, and rock-climber.

James F. Kane, D.M.D., M.S.
Dr. James "Jess" Kane graduated from the University of Massachusetts and Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, where he received his Master of Science degree in Anatomy and Certifications in Orthodontics as well as Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Kane is active in the Massachusetts Dental Society, past president of the Massachusetts Association of Orthodontists, is a Fellow in both the American and International College of Dentists, and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.
He has established practices in Natick, Walpole and Norwell. Dr. Kane has served as a staff orthodontist at the Tufts Dental Facility for the Handicapped and as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, Department of Pediatric Dentistry. Additionally, Dr. Kane served as an Orthodontic Consultant for the New England Medical Center and as the Orthodontic Course Director for the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at Tufts New England Medical Center. He has been President of both the Tufts Dental Alumni Association and the University of Massachusetts Alumni Association. He received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Tufts University in 2002 and from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst in 2007. Presently, he is an Assistant Clinical Professor at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, Department of Orthodontics.
Dr. Kane's philanthropic activities include serving as Executive Director of the UMass-Amherst Foundation Board, former Chairman of the Tufts Dental M Club, and as Chairman of The Capital Campaign for Tufts Dental School (which is funding the expansion of the Dental School building). He is also cofounder of Project Stretch, a nonprofit organization serving the dental needs of underprivileged children throughout the world. In addition, he is a founding member of the UMass Club in Boston. Most recently, Dr. Kane was appointed to the Board of Overseers at Tufts School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Kane is also proud to be on the National Board of Smiles Change Lives, a national non-profit organization that helps children and adolescents from low-income families receive orthodontic treatment.
Peiman Mahdavi, D.M.D.
Dr. Peiman Mahdavi has been with Dental Associates of Walpole since 1994. He received his B.S. degree in Biochemistry from the University of California at Davis and a D.M.D. degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He completed his general practice residency at New England Medical Center and Tufts University, followed by a two-year post-graduate residency in orthodontics at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He is a member of the Massachusetts Dental Society, the American Dental Association and the American Association of Orthodontists. In 2000 Dr. Mahdavi became an Invisalign certified orthodontist. Since 2009 he has been an Invisalign Premier Provider.
He and his wife have two daughters who like to make sure he always has something to do! Like most other parents on the weekends, you can usually find him watching soccer games or driving a carload of girls to the movies. As a family they also enjoy skiing, traveling and hiking. When Dr. Mahdavi is considering the treatment he will recommend for a patient he always asks himself what he would want to do if it was his wife or daughter. Dr. Mahdavi is a proud partner of Smiles Change Lives, a national non-profit organization that helps kids from low-income families get braces.

Dr. James (Jamie) Kane graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a Bachelor of
Science in Biology. He went on to receive his D.M.D. degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 2004. In 2006, he completed the post graduate orthodontic program at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Kane is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Massachusetts Dental Society, and the American Dental Association. He is a Board Certified orthodontist. Dr. Kane is on the board of directors of the Massachusetts Association of Orthodontists and plans the yearly meeting for all orthodontists in the state. He has lectured at the Yankee Dental Congress on integrating the modern dental office with contemporary digital equipment and is an avid technology fan. Dr. Kane grew up and lives locally with his family. He and his wife met in dental school and like to spend their time with their daughter.

Michael D. Palys, D.M.D., M.M.Sc.
Dr. Michael Palys received his B.A. degree from Temple University, his D.M.D. from Temple University School of Dentistry and his M.M.Sc.(Masters of Medical Science) from Harvard University School of Dental Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, the International and American Association for Dental Research and the Academy of Osseointegration.
Dr. Palys has published several scientific articles on periodontics and has been involved with numerous research teams at Harvard University School of Dental Medicine and Forsyth Dental Center. He was a Research Fellow in the Department of Periodontology at Harvard. He is currently a clinical research investigator at the Boston Oral Health Clinical Resource Center. In addition, he is a clinical instructor at the Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene and in Forsyth Dental Center's Periodontal Residency Program.
Dr. Palys is also a research volunteer at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's Department of Cellular and Molecular Biology and a staff periodontist at Harvard University Health Services. He also volunteers with The Metropolitans of the Wang Center, which benefits the "Young at Arts" program.
Steven J. Saunders, D.M.D.
Dr. Steven Saunders received his B.S. degree from Boston College and his D.M.D. degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He completed a general practice residency at the Public Health Service Hospital in Staten Island, N.Y. and received his certificate in endodontics from Tufts University. Dr. Saunders is a member of the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society, the American Association of Endodontists, and the West Metropolitan Study Club of the Massachusetts Dental Society. He is board certified in endodontics and a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics. Dr. Saunders is also a part-time faculty member in the Department of Endodontics at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, and maintains a private practice limited to endodontics in Natick, MA.
Hussam Batal, D.M.D.
Dr. Hussam Batal received his Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D) degree from Boston University’s Goldman School of Dental Medicine, with High Honors, in 1998. He received his certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from Boston University’s Goldman School of Dental Medicine in 2003.
Dr. Batal is a Diplomate of the American Board of Maxillofacial Surgery and has received numerous professional awards. These awards include the Quintessence Award for Achievement in Research and the America’s Top Dentist Award from Consumer Research.
In addition to his private practice, Dr. Batal is the Clinical Director of the Department of Dentistry and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Boston Medical Center in Boston, MA., the Director of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Internship Program and an Assistant Professor at Boston University’s Goldman School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Batal is married and speaks several languages including Arabic, Italian and Spanish.
